The Chapel & York US Foundation, Inc. is an alternative to the time and cost of setting up and managing a dedicated 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in the USA. It eliminates the administrative, legal and regulatory requirements necessary to run a 501(c)(3) but you will have less engagement and flexibility than having a dedicated organization.
The Foundation is particularly useful for organizations who:
- anticipate a modest number of local donations;
- do not have enough supporters interested in serving on a local governing body;
- want to invest a limited amount of resources; or
- wish to test engagement before devoting the time/money for a greater commitment.
Donors can take a tax deduction for donations to the Chapel & York US Foundation. The Foundation can receive grants from other foundations because it is a US Public Charity.
Organizations can become members of the Foundation. There is an annual membership fee plus the Foundation retains a percentage of donations received. There are two membership levels. The Foundation can also accept single or occasional donations from individuals or grants from corporates, foundations, and trusts without the need for your organization to become a member.
